6th Grade TED Talks

According to 6th grade students at Tidwell Middle School, research has never been so fun.  Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Dominguez introduced their students to TED Talks this Spring.


According to the TED Talks organization, the mission is simple: share ideas. Student's used databases and educational websites to find credible sources to support the topics of their choice.  


Lauren Soluri says that Google Docs was a great way to store and share her information. The class learned to appeal to their audience through graphics, audio, and speech.  Whether they were comfortable captivating the spotlight, or the thought of speaking in front of an audience terrified them, every student shared their ideas and learned from the process. The 3-4 minute talks were moving, powerful, and meaningful. Not only did students get to share with their peers, but each presentation was videoed and uploaded to a class YouTube channel so that student's could then share with a larger audience.
