Do You Wanna Build a Robot?

Lego Robotics Techno Camps Summer 2014

Each summer NISD hosts Lego Robotics TechnoCamp. This summer had the largest in attendance at 568 made up of 1st through 8th grade students.  TechnoCamp offers students the opportunity to challenge their creativity using the Lego Education robotics products. Students learn to design, program and control fully-functional Lego models. They use software to plan, test and modify sequences of instructions for a variety of life-like robotic behaviors. During the process, participants collect and analyze data from sensors using data logging functionalities embedded in the software. We look forward each year to summer so we can learn with our students.  They had so much fun they didn’t even realize they were learning!  

According to third grader Chris, "Not everything works right the first time so I had to keep trying to build my robot." Christopher wants to attend STEM at NHS and become a Technology Engineer that writes code.

Third grader Russell thought "Technocamp was fun because I like being creative which helped me to build robots. Battle bots was my favorite because our bots got to battle each other and of course we won". Russell wants to be an engineer and design cars.

Conner, also a third grader, discovered that "Legos DO need a motor to work". His favorite part of camp was hooking up the robot to the computer to watch it move to the customized program. 

Needless to say, all students shared that they "cannot wait for TechnoCamp next year!"
